Returning to London Fashion Week, Taiwanese-American designer and concert pianist Weiyin Chen captivated audiences with her SS26 Couture Concert, held in the atmospheric Swiss Church. Blending haute couture with live performance, Chen created an immersive evening where music and fashion intertwined in a seamless dialogue.
The evening opened with Chen wearing her striking Keyboard Dress, crafted from recycled tyres and sea wool from oyster shells. Performing Tchaikovsky’s Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Russian Dance, Chen welcomed guests with a festive prelude and announced the forthcoming release of her new album, with her first single coming out this December.
Audiences were then transported to Marrakech’s Jardin Majorelle as Chen unveiled a couture design inspired by Yves Saint Laurent’s iconic garden. Accompanied by dancers in complementary ready-to-wear looks, Chen performed Tchaikovsky’s Arabian Dance, highlighting her continued exploration of European and Oriental influences.
Next, Chen presented Moroccan Blossoms, a couture piece born from her journey to the Atlas Mountains, paired with Tchaikovsky’s Chinese Dance and Dance of the Reed Flutes. The vibrant harmonies of Morocco were brought to life through both fabric and sound, with reed flute imagery woven into the collection.

For the finale, Chen introduced her Scheherazade Fantasy couture and premiered her own improvisational composition inspired by Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade. This world premiere marked the first time Chen unveiled one of her original musical works alongside a corresponding couture creation, a defining moment of the evening.
Throughout the concert, Chen emphasised her commitment to sustainable fashion and up-cycling, presenting both couture and ready-to-wear looks that reimagine tradition through innovative, eco-conscious design.

Weiyin Chen’s SS26 Couture Concert confirmed her position as one of fashion week’s most unique voices, where music, art, and design converge into a living work of art. Guests departed with the promise of her new album and the invitation to explore her ready-to-wear collection at the post-show pop-up.
