Set on the farthest edge of Amanora, The Lakehouse by Amanora is not designed to impress, it’s designed to exhale. Floating gently over a private lake, the 10,000 sq. ft. space sits entirely surrounded by water, creating the rarest of things in a city: silence. Here, the architecture doesn’t shout for attention. It waits for you to settle. Then, slowly, it begins to speak.
The design crafted by architect Faizan Khatri of FKD Studios is an ode to subtlety. Every material used is chosen to breathe with time: lime-washed walls that age into their own patina, reclaimed teak that bears the beauty of its imperfections, native brass accents that soften with touch. Textures are kept raw and tactile – coarse linens, cane finishes, wood that warms under your palm. There’s a material honesty that grounds the space, making luxury feel lived-in, not lacquered.
Light, too, has been treated with reverence. It filters through large wooden-framed windows during the day, dappling across the floors and playing off matte surfaces. In the evening, the lighting dips into a warm, enveloping glow, designed not to spotlight, but to gently wash the space. No single corner is overlit; instead, the architecture allows light and shadow to coexist, creating quiet drama.
The layout flows like the lake around it – fluid, unhurried. The alfresco deck, cantilevered over the water, is breezy and expansive: perfect for mid-morning coffees, late lunches, and wine at golden hour. Inside, the main lounge is anchored by earthy hues and a dense green canopy of indoor planters. The seating, sleek yet comfortable, is arranged in soft clusters to encourage pause, whether you’re dining as a duo or reading alone with a glass of wine.
The bar zone leans a little more social: a stunning lake-facing counter backed with bottles that gleam softly in the evening light. Its stools are tall, the views uninterrupted, meant for conversations that stretch long past sunset. Elsewhere, smaller nooks offer semi-private escapes, banquettes embraced by tropical foliage, tables framed by large picture windows, and gentle jazz playing just loud enough to let your thoughts slow down.
What makes The Lakehouse singular is not just the way it looks, it’s the way it feels. The space doesn’t try to compete with the lake outside. It echoes it. Everything, the lighting, the layout, the materials, the silence flows with the rhythm of the water. Even the scent of herbs from the kitchen garden lingers in the air, tying plates and places together.
