Nestled in the vibrant heart of Bandra’s Reclamation, BOMBAY DAAK—the bar that redefined Mumbai’s love affair with “daaru and chakna”—celebrates its first birthday on the 2nd of August, exactly one year from where it all began. Known for blending nostalgia with nuance, BOMBAY DAAK has become one of the city’s most recognisable names in the bar scene, so you can expect this to be a memorable one. We’re throwing it back with a nostalgic 90s-themed birthday party, complete with cake, masks, and our signature daaru and chakna. And of course, no party would be complete without our beloved mascot, the drunken tigress Daakini, who’s never too far from a drink and her favourite bombil.
To mark this milestone, BOMBAY DAAK is hosting a month-long celebration that brings together the best of local spirit, global technique, and Bombay soul with four high-profile bar takeovers on the calendar, from internationally renowned names to indie speakeasies redefining India’s cocktail culture and it promises to be a birthday unlike any other.
The celebrations kick off on August 7th with a takeover by LAIR, Gurgaon an outpost of LAIR Delhi which came in at #8 in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025, as well as the #1 bar on India’s 30BestBars2025. Known for its chef-led cocktail program and boundary-pushing flavor pairings, lair brings an experimental, ingredient-forward philosophy to the bar. with both bars shaping trends in the industry, expect an evening of bold flavours, collaborative menus, and a seamless blend of two unique bar philosophies.
On August 16th, Vietnam’s acclaimed DRINKING & HEALING which recently featured at #99 on Asia’s 50 best bars 2024 makes its India debut. based in ho chi minh city, the bar is known for inventive cocktails, local ingredients, and a hip-hop-infused vibe. famed for reimagining classics with contemporary asian techniques and a strong focus on community, it brings a fresh, culturally rich experience to Bombay. This exclusive takeover blends southeast Asian cocktail culture with the city’s vibrant energy.
On August 22nd, BOMBAY DAAK welcomes Kolkata’s indie speakeasy CONVERSATION ROOM. Known for its minimalist cocktails and focus on a more wholesome conversation friendly experience, the bar brings its thoughtful energy to Mumbai — following BOMBAY DAAK’s recent takeover in Kolkata. With a philosophy valuing simplicity and intention, the conversation room creates a quiet contrast to louder bar scenes. The takeover will also feature a curated selection of their food, complementing the drink experience.
To close out the month, BOMBAY DAAK welcomes MURO on August 30th — a standout indigenous bar from Bangalore, recently featured on the 30 Best Bars India list. Known for its progressive cocktail program and celebration of local Indian ingredients, MURO brings a terroir-driven approach to mixology. Alongside their innovative drinks, MURO will showcase a curated food menu, promising a refined yet rooted experience to mark the end of the anniversary celebrations.
