Spend a fabulous weekend at an ancient island less than few hours from Bangalore

Want to plan a quick trip within driving distance over the weekend? How about visiting an ancient island that is located less than eight hours from Bangalore? Why not spend the weekend on a beach with your friends and go on an adventurous spin on a banana boat or a jet ski? Kaup is a tiny coastal town located in Udupi mainly known for the famous Kaup Beach. You will like the unique dolphin spotting experience in the mornings and also spot some water-friendly sea creatures if you decide to go snorkelling. You can also take some surfing lessons from the Shaka Surf Club and Ashram Surf Retreat at Kaup.

Kaup also offers boat ride to go to the deep waters. You can also visit a 110-year old lighthouse surrounded by a flurry of basalt rocks. What more can you ask for, than a breathtaking sunset and an endless sea view from the top of a lighthouse?

Kaup is a great option to explore coastal Karnataka at driving distance. Head into Mary’s Island, a historic island that can be reached by ferry and go around the columns of basaltic lava. A drive of around 40 minutes, will take you to the gorgeous seaside of Kodi Bengre, a hidden beach where River Suvarna meets the Arabian Sea. The gorgeous sea view will help you relax and leave you refreshed to get back to the crazy city life.

If you’re game for snorkeling, visit the neighboring town of Murudeshwar around 65 km away from Kaup and discover the beauty of the deep sea.
