NUMINOUS by Danny Reinke feat. Sungyi Lee  of WALA DESIGN LAB

Autumn / Winter 2026 Collection

Nature is omnipresent. With Numinous, Danny Reinke presented a collection at Berlin Fashion Week that understands the forest not as a mere backdrop, but as an independent force. The staging condensed the space into an intense, almost ritualistic atmosphere, supported by live music, subdued lighting, and a clear narrative dramaturgy. The collection moves between prêt-à-couture and sculptural designs, whose silhouettes convey both security and fragility. Volume meets precise cuts, long lines meet fragmented forms. Coats, dresses, and ensembles made of faux fur and virgin wool play a central role. Almost alive, they appear like animalistic beings emerging from the darkness and attentively observing the space.

Materiality is at the heart of the design. A conscious mix of tulle, transparent fabrics, and recycled and deadstock textiles creates garments with unique surface textures.

Parts of the collection appear deliberately incomplete – organically grown, like snapshots of an ongoing process. Large-volume tulle silhouettes and expansive ruffles seem to be in constant motion, beyond clear contours. This interplay of form and dissolution continues in surrealistically designed faces made of elaborate leather patchwork and bead applications, inspired by the expressive imagery of Edvard Munch and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner: distorted, intense, oscillating between inner tension and expressiveness. An essential component of the collection is hand-woven fabrics made from collected leftover materials. Ropes, wool, felt and leather scraps, raffia, and other natural materials of diverse origins merge into a new, unique fabric. Hand-knitted sweaters, hats, gloves, and accessories with a coarse texture add a layer of protection and warmth to the collection. Light, chiffon-like materials drape like morning mist over heavier textures, partially dissolving them and creating fleeting contrasts. This creates the image of a collection that oscillates between nature and the art world, between external reality and inner perception—mysterious, raw, and deeply emotional.

The color palette remains deliberately restrained and earthy. Varying shades of brown and gray, along with mossy green nuances, define the overall look, complemented by muted natural colors. Isolated bright accents in white and cream provide targeted points of light—like clearings in a forest. Nothing is overpowering; everything appears focused, calm, and atmospherically intense.
