Creepy, Weird Big Old Banyan Tree On The Outskirts Of The City? Well, Let’s Go Then!
Nature fans out there, have you visited the Big Banyan Tree (Dodda Aalada Mara in Kannada) yet? Well, if you are up to see some weird shaped trees and some monkeys on this weekend, this spot will be perfect for you.
The Big Banyan Tree is situated on Mysore Road. This tree is pretty old, maybe older than you think. This 400-year-old Big Banyan Tree covers almost three acres and it also got the fame of being the biggest Banyan Tree in Karnataka. Cool right?
It’s not over yet, this beautiful Big Banyan Tree is the fourth largest Banyan Tree in the entire country and the government even enclosed the space to turn it into a shaded park for nature lovers. There are plenty of benches for you to relax and have a perfect picnic away from the Bangalore city madness. But, beware of monkeys, because the Big Banyan Tree is filled with them.
You can catch a direct bus to Dodda Aalada Mara from KR Market or catch a bus from Majestic to Kengeri, and then from Kengeri to Dodda Aalada Mara. Take a small drive about 10 km further down and it will take you to The Manchanabele Reservoir.
There is a rumor that this place is haunted by some evil spirits. Although, the atmosphere is kind of creepy during dusk hours and night. So, if you are adventurous enough to spend some time a year, let us know what you think about this place.
