Bao to Me: Where Every Detail Tells a Story
Every great restaurant has a story, and the story of Bao to Me is one of passion, family and a dream come true. For a long time, this gem in Bengaluru was a well-kept secret. It was a well-known cloud kitchen celebrated for bringing authentic Pan-Asian food to your doorstep. But when the consistent outcry from loyal regulars became impossible to ignore, Foo and his team of chefs and restaurant professionals knew that it was time to create a venue for Bengaluru to experience and enjoy their food.

Entering the new Bao to Me is to experience that story. The interior was more than just decor; it is a collection of reminisces and elements of Foo’s home town. Look closely, and you can notice decor telling a story of a tight knit family. The antique fans and collectables were carefully chosen by Foo’s family over the years, not mere decor to be bought and forgotten, but it is an expression of their family’s memories. Even the tiles on the mirror, above the sink, have a story. They are real mahjong tiles that belonged to his grandmother, woven into the interior of the restaurant as a loving tribute.

At Bao to Me, the food does not disappoint with its beautiful surroundings, and the cuisine itself is a true reflection of the team and their involvement, commitment and determination of quality!

Tori Kori – Age, Bao & Dumplings
Start with the spicy Smashed Cucumber Salad or the creamy Surimi Stick Salad. Then, nibble on the crunchy Sichimi Spiced Lotus Stem Chips and the juicy Tori Kori-Age. Then the pièce de résistance: the baos and dumplings. Both the veg and non-veg versions are mini works of art, the searingly spicy Schezwan Chicken Bao and the beautifully silky and rich Truffle, Mushroom and Creamcheese Dimsum, are a personal favourite.

For a full meal, the Tori Katsu Kare Raisu, a crispy panko-breaded chicken served with rich Japanese curry over rice, will tickle your tastebuds and not leave you hungry. For the vegans, try the Nasu Katsu Kare Raisu, tasting just as rich as the other, only substituted by the eggplant. The Japanese Curry has just the right amount of tanginess to balance out the flavoured protein and the rice. For a perfect bite, make sure you try it with the pickled cucumber, that leaves you wanting for more.

You will absolutely not want to leave without trying some of the very unique desserts on offer. The Black Sesame Bao has a pleasant nutty sweetness; the Mizu Shingen Mochi is delicate and light, and absolutely beautiful.
Bao to Me is more than just a dining experience. It is a bit of someone’s home inviting you to come in and become part of the story. It is art, flavor, and heritage, all in one where the whole is definitely greater than the sum of its parts in a food story, making it a essential addition to your must-eat food bucket list in Bengaluru if you are looking for an authentic and memorable culinary experience.
