Hampi temples are one of the oldest temples built in the Dravidian style of architecture back in 18 century by King Devaraya II who was one of the rulers of the Vijayanagara Empire. The Vitthala Temple in Hampi is one of the must-visit places for anyone who loves history. The beautiful temple is known for the ancient architecture and fine craftsmanship.
The temple is considered as one of the grandest temples and monuments in Hampi. Each section of the temple is made out of stones and carved with intricate details. The Maha Mantapa (Main Hall) located in the inner courtyard of the main temple area and the intricate carvings of Lord Narshima and Yali on the pillars in the central area of the main mandapa are the main attractions of the temple. You will also be amused by the animals in one decorative pillar statues.
The Insta-worthy temple is dedicated to Lord Vitthala, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and it is considered as the most photographed spot in Hampi. The stone temple is dedicated to the chariot of Lord Vishnu, Garuda. The musical pillars carved out of single pieces of stone are another miraculous attraction of the famous Hampi Temple.
