The grand finale of JD Design Awards will begin with the Interior and Jewellery Design at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath from 8th June till 10th June 2023. It is a platform created exclusively to promote young designers to showcase their work to the industry experts, media and a diverse audience.  Participating in the Design Awards are aspiring Interior and Jewellery Designers from JD School of Design and JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Bengaluru. Taking inspiration from the changing dynamics of design, the young talents have developed well-crafted solutions with their original work. The event will be spread across a vast area which is segregated into a number of spaces with interesting exhibits and interactive experiences.  JD Design Awards aims to nurture, mentor and promote creatives who will champion innovations in design and be instrumental in being positive contributors in the value chain. Futuristic Innovations by Interior Designers of Goa at JD Design Awards 2023

The interior design exhibition showcased by the young designers at JD Design Awards 2023 concluded on a high note. In attendance were renowned architects, media and influencers along with parents and students who came down in good numbers to support and motivate the youth of Goa. The outstanding projects showcased by students of JD School of Design (Affiliated to Goa University) and JD Institute of Fashion Technology celebrated cutting edge creativity that reviewed and redefined Goa with modern tech. The future of our evolving world, its changing landscape and the way forward provided the crux of the interior design exhibition. The overriding conviction was that the next generation of forward-thinking designers who believe in moving ahead and yet being rooted to their culture and heritage. This reiterates their position as the enablers of the new smart industry era. The projects on display and the thoughts that went into its creation demonstrated the central and crucial role played by this new wave of thought that one must not be confined. Sustainable practices that fuse the traditional with the modern was resoundingly echoed in the work presented by the young interior designers. Mr. Nealesh Dalal, Managing Trustee of JD School of Design and JD Institute of Fashion Technology stated, “Education helps to support young designers to achieve their dreams. At the interior design exhibition we were able to witness students work that showed the incorporation of tech in banking, reflection of the warmth of Goans and the Portuguese influence, wellness initiatives etc. Kudos to the budding superstars for pushing the envelope and championing innovation which is the key to the evolutionary process that is revolutionising the industry.” Aishwarya Shrishail Mirje, Interior Design student of JD School of Design and  participant at the recent interior design exhibition at JD Design Awards shared, “My experience for the JD Design Awards from brain storming to my final execution of my project was a fun experience. My project revolved around the old vernacular style of architecture. This helped me explore and taught me a lot about sustainable practices.”   JD Design Awards was created to provide aspiring designers with a space for their creative voices.  The winners of the Interior Design Exhibition at JD Design Awards 2023 were: Best Thesis of the Year – Dhanashree Pratap Singh, student of Interior Design at JD School of Design for her project, Soil to Soul which was based on the Earthship concept that provides a space for potters and clay artists to teach people about this forgotten artform. Best Virtual Experience – Fernandes Elton Francisco, student of Interior Design at JD School of Design for his project, Industrial Dinette a sustainable restaurant space in Industrial style made using reclaimed/recycled materials. This style reduces heat in seating areas and harvests wind energy.  Best Concept of the Year – Shahin Kausar Bashir Ahamad Belur, student of Interior Design at JD School of Design for her project, Rainbow Dazzlers, a kindergarten child friendly school where students are motivated to develop beliefs and build their confidence. It also provides opportunities for creativity and imagination to flourish.  Special Jury Award – Naik Teja Dayanand, student of Interior Design at JD School of Design for her project Sobit Nirmit, a concept store for handicrafts of Goa and an in-house cafe which will be housed in an Indo-Portuguese style mansion. The aim is to represent Goa and its culture by supporting the indigenous people and their art and craft forms. Best Execution – Emmanuel Antonio Fernandes, student of Interior Design at JD School of Design for his project Old World Charm, a restaurant and bar that spells the old world charm of rural havelis showcasing the use of natural materials around the context of informal vibe that is tweaked to create a semi formal space which is true to its culture and context. Best Project of the Year – Tejas Fadte, student of Interior Design at JD Institute of Fashion Technology for his project Poderalo Konso which is a rustic bakery which paid tribute to the baker. Best Execution – Wayde Francisco De Sa, student of Interior Design at JD Institute of Fashion Technology for his project Reflection an installation which is a tribute to oneself and the life that a person has lived. The grand event of JD Design Awards 2022 has concluded in the city of Goa on 25th August, 2022. The aspiring designers who presented their collection on this grand platform hailed from JD Institute of Fashion Technology and JD School of Design, Goa. With the theme, Sync, the aspiring designers of both the institutes came up with multiple concepts that spoke of the futuristic world with technology and ecosystem intertwined. The young creative minds gave life to their concepts, experimented with various fabrics, material and reinvigorated the idea of healthy and equal living. The designers of JD Institute and JD School of Design with their collections in JDDA 2022 received huge appreciations from the audience and honoured industry faces. JD Design Awards 2022- Show 1 of Bangalore

The much awaited JD Design Awards 2022 finally concluded on the 30th June with all the glitz and glamor. The Design Awards show, the legacy of JD Educational trust, returned after a gap of two years due to the prevailing COVID pandemic conditions. The pandemic led us to take a backseat in our social lives, putting a halt on many awards and shows that religiously used to be conducted across the nation. However, as humanity is going back to its pace with more consciousness and knowledge, JD Design Awards hit the main stage again to weave the same magic on us as it used to do in its previous editions. The great and much-loved award show is for the budding designers who want to make a space in the vast world of design and art. JD Institute of Fashion Technology and JD School of Design participated in the JDDA 2022 and brought forward the creative minds and the forerunners of the planet. JD Design Awards 2022, this year is happening in six different cities with over 500 participants. In Bangalore, the event took place at The Lalit Ashok in two different slots, keeping in mind all the covid guidelines and restrictions. During the first show that started at 1 PM on 30th June, 2022, a total of 27 groups showcased their designs on the ramp. The students of both the institutes went ahead with this year’s theme that is Sync and worked on the pathways that were given by the board members of JDDA. The five different pathways are; make a statement, solve a problem, inspire a group, imagine the future and kindle aspiration. Each of the pathways ensure a better future with a healthy planet, eventually leading to the growth of humankind without hampering nature. In the first show of the event, the designer groups brought forward eccentric ensembles ranging from androgynous attires to kidswear. Be it the structuring of the garments, or sourcing, the design community experimented with every aspect of it. Some of the designers also took the responsibility of waste management and worked with the discarded clothes or curated fabric with cigarette butts for their collection. Moreover, several students also explored the authentic artforms of different cultures and tribes, reviving them through their imagination. Reversible garments, ensembles that can transform from day wear to party wear, collections that took inspiration from nature and put forward the future of it, were the key highlights of the show and stole the attention as well as hearts of the audience. As the first show culminated, winners from different categories were announced. The collection name along with the designer name is mentioned below: 1. Best Design Collection- kidswear category- Thehrav by Harmeet Kaur Bhavra 6. Best Critic Award- Activists From Another World by Jaivika Satish and Adithya Raj Singh 7. Best Concept using 3D Technology- Neoteric Flamingo by Ritika Kumari and Moni Krishna 8. Best Sustainability Design Collection- Tela Vaquera by Paras shah 9. Excellence in Academic & Creative Design- Tsunagari by Pavan Kumar P and Hannah Kathryn D Coutho The event was attended by many revered industry members who were in awe with the collection and innovation of the budding designers. The event also witnessed happy and proud tears of the designers and their parents who had worked tirelessly around the clock to bring forth the magnificent designs.
