Spotlight on the 2025 Emmys: Show-Stopping Looks & Red Carpet Glamour

2025 Emmys: The 2025 Emmys Award not only celebrated the finest of television, but the red carpet was a catwalk of bold statements, breathtaking silhouettes, and fashion risks that paid off. Actresses, actors, and celebrities roamed in together in ensembles that combined old Hollywood glamour with cutting-edge chic. Below are the standout stars and what made their style moments unforgettable.   Major Moments & Mood of the Night – Emmys 2025 Formal glamour dominated, only with a twist. Gowns were not just flowing and conventional – they offered detail, drama, and surprise. Men’s style, also, embraced colour, texture, and whimsy. Surprise risk-taking was the theme of the night: illusion nude effects, daring accessory choices, and colour or print that broke black/red carpet uniformity. Best Dressed Highlights Below are some of the best stands (in my humble opinion) and why they worked: Jenna Ortega, Givenchy -She went for avant-garde: a “naked” body adorned with over-the-top jewels at the waist. It’s daring, fashion-forward, and striking.   Cate Blanchett, Armani Privé– Always a red carpet regular, her pairing of classic sophistication and streamlined, couture chic made it classic yet new.   Colman Domingo, Valentino — Showed how menswear could still leave its mark: powder blue with crystal embroidery. Elegance but not timidity.     Sam Nivola, Dior — Tuxedo outfit with a floral-printed waistcoat introducing personality and playfulness. Breaking the tuxedo rules in a positive way.   Chloë Sevigny, Saint Laurent — Broke Old Hollywood: black dress, but with attitude, edge, and something unexpected in styling. What Fashion Trends Emerged?   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Jenna Ortega (@jennaortega)   Statement bodices & textures: Adornments, gems, sheer/nude illusion, not necessarily to add embellishment, but as a core part of the design identity. Colour breaking in: pastels (powder blue), bright reds, and floral motifs for men — taking the risk for safer blacks. Menswear redesigned: more texture, more pattern, more panache — the tux is no longer black and beige. Old glamour with a new twist: hints of vintage silhouettes, but pairing them with modern accessories or flashy detailing. What Stood Out (And What Could’ve Been Different) What did work: Star moments such as Jenna Ortega’s and Domingo’s seemed well considered, with distinctive personalities. The blend of glamour and wearable drama — so many looks that stopped you in your tracks. That which I feel could have been more impactful: Some individuals appeared overly cautious, particularly those who wore conservative black or muted tones. In a night of fashion experimentation, brighter contrast is more apparent. Accessories were occasionally reined in; with so much going on in cut and material, some statement jewellery or a headpiece might have elevated the look a notch. My Favourite(s) of the Night If I had to choose, Jenna Ortega in Givenchy would take it for breaking style barriers and getting red carpet drama right. Close second: Colman Domingo’s Valentino—style + shine + uniqueness. What This Means for Style.World Readers? IIf you’re a fan of the red carpet style (as I am), here are some lessons to apply to your own style: Try illusion fabrics or panels of sheer fabric – strategically placed embellishments and sheerness can be breathtaking. Mix upformality with playfulness: menswear needn’t be the preserve of pocket squares/bow ties – think waistcoat prints, embroidery, and colour. Don’t underestimate the power of accessories or texture – a detail of a garment’s fabric or detail can make a whole ensemble.
