Roast Café, Hyderabad: How a Coffee Brand Became a Culinary Landmark

Roast Café, Hyderabad: How a Coffee Brand Became a Culinary Landmark

Review by TheStyle.World Team.

Some cafés are about quick caffeine fixes. Others are about ambience. Roast is neither—and somehow, both.

Walk into any Roast outlet in Hyderabad, and you’ll notice it immediately. There’s no rush to impress, no over-designed drama. Instead, there’s a quiet confidence in how things are done—from the way coffee is brewed to how food lands on your table. It feels considered. Thought through. Almost European in its restraint.

What started in 2019 as a boutique café in HITEC City has today become one of Hyderabad’s most recognisable food and coffee destinations. And yet, Roast doesn’t behave like a brand trying to scale fast. It behaves like one that wants to get things right.

More Than Coffee, From the Very Beginning

Roast was founded by Hanumanth Rao Naineni, someone who didn’t enter hospitality through glamour, but through groundwork. Long before Roast, he was working behind the scenes—building supply chains, introducing premium equipment, and raising ingredient standards across India’s F&B industry. That lens shows.

Roast was born out of a simple observation: café culture in India was growing rapidly, but consistency wasn’t. Good coffee was available—but not reliably. Comfort food existed—but not always well executed. Roast set out to change that, quietly.

The result? A café that focuses on doing the basics exceptionally well. Coffee that tastes clean. Food that doesn’t try too hard. Classics that feel familiar but finished properly.

Three Spaces, Three Moods

Roast today exists across three very different formats, each matching a different pace of the city.

Roast – The Caffeine Capital, Madhapur feels like your everyday café—the kind you return to. It’s relaxed, filled with plants and natural light, and works equally well for morning meetings or slow afternoons.

Roast 24 Seven, Gachibowli, has a different energy. Open late and always buzzing, it caters to night owls, post-work crowds, and anyone craving dessert or coffee at odd hours. The menu is generous, the vibe lively, and the seating stretches indoors and out.

And then there’s Roast CCX in Banjara Hills—the space that changes how you think about what a café can be.

Spread across a massive 60,000 square feet, CCX feels less like a café and more like a culinary campus. There’s a roastery, bakery, chef’s table, coffee education room, private screening theatre—and enough seating to host entire families without ever feeling chaotic. It’s ambitious, but surprisingly easy to navigate.

Where Coffee Is Treated Like Wine

At Roast CCX, coffee isn’t an afterthought—it’s a discipline. With over 20–25 coffee varieties on rotation and trained coffee masters who approach tasting like sommeliers, guests are encouraged to explore flavour notes, origins, and brew styles. Coffee tasting sessions, pairing menus, and workshops make learning immersive and accessible, turning casual drinkers into informed enthusiasts

A Michelin-Calibre Touch in the Kitchen

The pastry and dessert programme at Roast takes a noticeable turn with Chef Joakim Prat, whose background spans some of Europe’s finest Michelin-starred kitchens. His influence isn’t loud—but it’s precise.

Desserts here aren’t overloaded or overly sweet. They’re balanced, elegant, and carefully constructed. Think éclairs that feel indulgent without being heavy, pastries that rely on technique rather than sugar, and desserts that feel complete after a few bites. It’s French finesse, adapted gently for an Indian audience.

Designed to Scale, Without Losing Its Soul

What makes Roast stand out isn’t just scale or ambition—it’s intent. Every part of the experience feels built, not branded. Systems matter here. Training matters. Equipment matters. And that’s why, despite its size and growing popularity, Roast rarely feels inconsistent.

Whether you’re stopping in for a quick cold brew, meeting friends for dinner, or spending hours exploring coffee and desserts at CCX, the experience holds together.

Roast Café is not trying to be the loudest name in Hyderabad’s dining scene. It is building something far more enduring, a culture of quality, patience, and credibility. Whether you drop in for a quick cold brew, spend an evening exploring desserts, or immerse yourself in a chef-led tasting, Roast delivers with quiet confidence. In an era of fast trends and fleeting hype, Roast stands as proof that when craft leads the conversation, success follows sip by sip, plate by plate.
