New Teaser Drops Ahead of January Launch
Renault has once again teased the highly anticipated 2026 Renault Duster ahead of its official India launch on January 26, 2026, confirming that the India-spec model won’t be a straight copy of the global version. The latest teaser gives us a first proper look at the SUV’s exterior under wraps.
Distinctive Exterior Design Tweaks
One of the standout changes in the India-bound Duster is the redesigned lighting signature. The teaser clearly showcases eyebrow-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs) sitting above the headlights, a departure from the Y-shaped DRLs seen on the global model. These eyebrow DRLs are expected to double as turn indicators, adding both style and function.
At the rear, the teased SUV features a connected LED taillight strip, a modern design trend that gives the back a wider and more premium look compared to the wraparound lights of the global variant.
The overall silhouette of the SUV remains rugged and familiar, staying true to the Duster’s identity. While Renault has kept the interior hidden of the car for now, it’s understood that the interior will carry over much of the world renowned layout with some enhancements to elevate the feel for Indian buyers.
Features and Technology Available
The India-specific Duster is anticipated to substantially include features from the global model, despite Renault having not yet disclosed the complete specs. A 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital driver display, and a wireless phone charger are probably included. Additionally, a panoramic sunroof might be planned, which would increase the allure for purchasers seeking a high-end experience in this market. With features like six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring, and cutting-edge technology like an electronic parking brake with auto hold and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), the safety suite is very extensive.
Engine Lineup and Future Powertrains
At launch, Renault is likely to offer the new Duster with petrol powertrains only. The expected options include a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol unit producing around 156hp similar to the global SUV and possibly a tuned 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine borrowed from the smaller Kiger for lower variants.
Interestingly, sources at Renault have hinted that a strong-hybrid petrol engine could arrive in India approximately a year after the Duster’s initial launch, adding a more efficient and electrified option to the range. What This Means for the Indian SUV Market
Renault is changing the design of the 2026 Renault Duster to make its SUVs more appealing to Indian customers. The new Duster is ready to take on rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Tata Sierra, and others because it looks tough, has modern lighting, and a well-equipped cabin. When the Duster comes back at the beginning of next year, it could shake up the very competitive midsize SUV market.
